RASHFORD'S FERGIE TIME WINNER SEALS A WIN FOR MANCHESTER UNITED OVER WEST HAM

Image
Finally a sigh of relief as Manchester United is back in the top 4 half of the Premier League table.  This match was a 6 pointer as both the teams are in direct competition with each other for the 4th spot and therefore, it was extremely important for Manchester United to win this game. This was Manchester United's best defensive performance under Ralf Rangnick. I wouldn't say they dominated this match, but they definitely were the better team. However, neither of the sides were able to produce a clear goalscoring opportunity until the very last minute of the match.  Captain Harry Maguire was given a start which made me really anxious considering how poor his performances have been this season. But, to my surprise, he actually had a great game as he partnered up with Varane to shut out West Ham's attack and help David De Gea get a much-deserved cleansheet. Besides a good defensive display, it seemed as if the Red Devils were still not sure what their game plan was once th...

THIS IS EL CLÁSICO!

Image
Let's just say, there's a reason why El Clásico is considered as the biggest fixture in world football. While it has certainly lost some of it's hype in the past couple of years, but on Wednesday night, we got to see the fierce and unparalleled rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona as Madrid claimed a narrow win against an encouraging Barça display.  Let's be honest, no one expected Barcelona to even compete against a Real Madrid side which is easily one of the top 5 teams in Europe right now, and therefore, coming into this game, Los Blancos were the clear favourites. However, Madrid was in for a big surprise as it was their rivals who were in control of the game for large portions.  Madrid's strategy for this match was simple, soak up the pressure and hit Barcelona on the counter. While it did work considering they ultimately won the match, however with a midfield trio of Modrić, Kroos and Casemiro, Real Madrid should've been the team to dominate their opp...

3 POINTS AS REAL MADRID THRASH VALENCIA 4-1

Image
How satisfying it is to go to sleep knowing that your team absolutely smashed it's opponent. I'd say it's the best feeling in the world. So yes, I feel like I'm on top of the world while writing about this tremendous team performance from Real Madrid in which we saw them smash Valencia 4-1.  Coming into this game, I knew that we would end up winning considering Valencia's poor run of form this season. But still, I expected a match in which Real Madrid would have to grind out a win, but instead, we got to see a treat of a match with 5 goals in total. 30 minutes into this match and I started feeling that this might end up being a frustrating draw as neither side could produce a clear goalscoring opportunity. Little did I know that Vinicius and Benzema had something else in mind. A penalty was awarded to Real Madrid in the 42nd minute after Diakhaby was penalised for blocking off Casemiro's run into the box. The referee barely hesitated before pointing to the spo...

CAVANI RESCUES A POINT FOR UNITED AS THEIR DREADFUL FORM CONTINUES

Image
It's 4 O'Clock in the morning and I should be well asleep by now, but here I am seriously questioning my life choices because what I just saw was certainly not good for my mental health. That's an average Man Utd fan nowadays .  On Monday night, there was a spark of excitement and confidence in me upon seeing my idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, play after a long break of 16 days due to a Covid outbreak inside the club. And well that spark died within the first 7 minutes of the game as Newcastle scored the opening goal and took a well-deserved lead. Varane was absolutely terrible in this game and I'd rather save my rant on Maguire for the end of the season. Basically, another dreadful performance by the Red Devils and 2 crucial points dropped. It was surprising to see that even after scoring an early goal, Newcastle didn't sit back to protect their lead and instead they went on to hit Utd on the counter again and again to find that 2 goal cushion. The match ended in a 1-1 dr...
